If you see the "Earth" button in the top right corner of the map that means your computer supports the Google Earth Web Plugin. Install it to fly around the slopes! It's really worth the 30 seconds it takes to download and install it! Once you've got it installed here's how to navigate....
To navigate with your mouse, simply position the cursor in view, click one of the buttons (right or left), and move the mouse. By moving the mouse while pressing one of the buttons, you can:
- Drag the view in any direction
- Zoom in or out
- Tilt the view (requires middle button or scroll wheel or holding down the Shift key and your left mouse button and moving your mouse)
- Rotate the view (requires middle button or scroll wheel or holding down the Control key and your left mouse button and moving your mouse)
Here at Powder Chimp we love snow and outdoor recreation. In Colorado, I70 (often via the Eisenhower Tunnel) is the path to our favorite destinations so weather conditions along that route really matter to us. There are all these great cameras along the route but, checking on the roadside cameras has always been a bit of a hassle. They're listed by name at CDOT and hard to get to - "where's the map!"
Since we ski and snowboard, we figured the next place to show would be the ski slopes and resorts. We'll be adding all the stuff that's important for ski and snowboard travel onto this map, so check back for car service, gas, snow tires, lodging, ski and snowboard rental and sales, dining, apres ski (here at the chimp we just call that beer and a hot tub)... you get the picture. As with any free service like this we live off of ads so please take a peek at them and click one if it interests you.
